Uintalands Water System
Cross Connection Prevention

Cross-connections are points in a plumbing system where non-potable substances can come into contact with potable drinking water.

​

Examples

  • Garden hose - A garden hose connected to a chemical spray bottle or submerged in a bucket of soapy water , or bucket for wildlife.

  • Water-using devices - Improperly plumbed water-using devices like hot tubs, boilers, dishwashers, water softeners or fire suppression systems, that can allow unsafe water back into the piping system .

 

Authority

  • Rules and Regulations of the Uintalands Association address cross connections, and backflow incidents.

  • $2,000 mandatory fine, Shutting off member’s water, and/or possible lean placed on member’s property.

Backflow preventing devices are required.
