Summit County Declares “Extreme 2” Fire Danger – No Fires Allowed

UL Board
Jul 31, 2025
Dear Uintalands member,
We have learned that Summit County has moved the fire danger up another level to “Extreme 2” which has severe restrictions, including no fires – even in approved fire pits.
That means Uintalands must comply. Here is a short excerpt from the full Summit County release:
As opposed to Stage 1 restrictions where fires are allowed in campground and picnic areas, now there should be NO OPEN FIRES OF ANY KIND on state and unincorporated lands. Devices using pressurized liquid or gas fuels with a shut-off valve (like stoves, grills, or lanterns) are allowed when used at least 3 feet away from flammable material.
This also means the Uintalands shooting range must close.
The restrictions will remain in place until Summit County changes the status -likely much later this summer. We will keep you updated through our Uintalands.com website, Buildium messaging, Facebook, and signage where possible.
These dangers are a real risk to all of us. Please comply and assure those who may be using your property also comply.
Thank you,
Brian Oldham, President and Dan Struhs, Safety
