After several days of rain and cloud cover over the fire area, a warming and drying trend starts today that will last through Wednesday. To take advantage of the weather window, crews will be working closer to the fire perimeter constructing handline which will be tied into natural features and existing handline which has been constructed over the past week. The warmer weather may increase fire behavior on areas of the fire that have not shown much activity during the rain. Winds out of the north may impact the right hand and left hand of the East Fork of the Bear River today where a confinement strategy is in place.
Crews continue the important job of plumbing the primary and contingency lines and will begin testing the water delivery systems to ensure they are all functioning properly if needed in the future. About 50% of the mastication work along the North Slope Road and Mill Creek Road is complete. Four spike camps have been established around the fire perimeter. A spike camp is a temporary, remote camp close to the fireline to allow firefighters to stay close to their work area and reduce travel time.
In coordination with the Summit County Sheriff’s Office and Summit County, Utah, notification zones have been established for the Beulah Fire. Fire managers and Summit County work together to determine the appropriate Ready, Set, or Go status based on current fire activity. Any official changes will come directly from the Summit County Sheriff. Residents and visitors are strongly encouraged to sign up for Summit County’s emergency alerts here: https://member.everbridge.net/453003085613422/new
